Privacy Policy

Who am I?

I am Pete. But for the purposes of ‘The Law’ you are dealing with Clark CX Ltd, of which ‘Your Friend Pete’ is a trading style. My business website address is: https://www.yourfriendpete.com. This privacy policy applies to this website and those I build for my clients.

What personal data I collect and why I collect it

Contact forms, email and phone

If you choose to contact me through my website’s contact form, by emailing me or by calling me I will retain a copy of your email address and/or phone number and message so that I can get back to you. If you become a client I will store your contact details securely for the purposes of business. I will never share your contact details with anyone else without your prior permission unless compelled to do so by law. Which seems unlikely.

If you do not immediately become a client I may retain a copy of your contact details for the purposes of contacting you in the future unless you ask me not to.

Cookies

I do not set any tracking cookies. If you change the style of the website with the drop-down menu up at the top a single essential cookie called ‘eeStyle’ will be stored on your device. That cookie will have a value of either ‘style-dark’, ‘style-minimal’, or ‘style-garish’. I class this is an essential cookie because without it the style you choose would be reset as soon as you click through to another page. Other than remembering your preference this cookie does absolutely nothing. It’s what cookies are actually meant for.

Embedded content from other websites

I do not embed data from other websites so you will not find any third party cookies being set.

Analytics

I use Fathom Analytics to record statistics about site visitors. Fathom is GDPR compliant and very non-creepy. They do not set cookies either. You can read about why I like Fathom in a short post I wrote. While I recommend Fathom, any website I build for clients may, at their discretion, include analytics tracking codes from other providers including Google.

Personal data provided by clients

In the process of building and maintaining websites for my clients I sometimes have access to their direct customer’s personal data. I treat this data as highly confidential. If I am storing it myself it will be kept securely. I do not share personal data entrusted to me by clients with any third-parties for any reason.

After completion of a project or after ending a relationship with a client I will destroy copies of any personal data in my possession unless I am required to keep a copy for legal reasons.
