“What are you!?”
I was asked this once by a potential client. It’s a fair question. Get 100 web designers in a room and, in addition to a nerdy party, you’ll probably have a mix of people who exist somewhere on the spectrum from ‘graphic designer who’s really best at print’ to ‘developer who dreams in code’. I’m dead centre on that gradient. I’m a qualified graphic designer with experience of branding projects but I’ve been programming ever since my dad brought home a BBC Micro in the mid 1980s.
“So… Jack of all trades master of none then?”
Sure, if you want to be hurtful about it! But seriously, I’m pretty well rounded and I’ve been doing this long enough to know my strengths. I’ve worked for myself, I’ve worked in small teams, I’ve worked in large teams, I’ve worked with start up clients and I’ve worked with large organisations. I work best with dynamic, passionate individuals who have a clear idea of the problem they need solving.
“How can you help?”
I’m interested in what you want to achieve because I design and build websites that solve business problems. I’m most useful to you early on in the process as I have strong planning skills and can act as an objective party if you need to bounce ideas around. I have experience of managing illustrators, photographers and copywriters so you can let me handle that stuff!
“Uh huh, uh huh, how much does a website cost?”
Anywhere from free to hundreds of thousands of pounds. I typically work on projects with a budget of £5000+ although I can sometimes offer a discount to charities and volunteer run organisations.
“Okay I’m convinced. How do we get started?”
It’s very simple. Get in touch and we’ll have a chat about what you need. Lovely.
